Dedication of The Police Operation Center-North/3rd Patrol
Karen Parker-Chesson, the Public Information Officer introduced the dignitaries followed by presentation of the colors by the NPD Honor Guard.
CPAAAN members and Civic League Reps. were in the crowd of wellwishers as firefighter Gary Coggin sang the National Anthem and NPD Senior Chaplin, Dr. Leroy Briggs gave the Invocation.
Acting Chief of Police, Sharon L. Chamberlin welcomed the distinguished guests and citizens to this memorable occasion and invited Norfolk Mayor Paul Fraim to make a few remarks.
Someone said "ribbon cutting" and a swarm of photographers charged the main entrance. Following the ribbon cutting everyone was invited in for a tour of this magnificent building.
This beautiful Community Conference Room will hold over 250 people. The Training Room has every imaginable type of exercise equipment so our sworn officers can maintain top physical fitness.
The Motorcycle Repository was neat and clean and the canteen was bright and inviting. Snack and drink machines, cabinet and counter space, sink and microwave were available, just like home!
In addition to the spaces shown above there are hundreds of square feet of carpeted office spaces, magnificiently furnished and partitioned to provide quiet, bright, professional work centers for our officers.
This building will house The Third Patrol Division, Homeland Security Division, Special Operations Team, Bomb Squad and Harbor Patrol Unit.
