CPAAAN offers a hearty welcome to our website visitors! Get to know “About Us”, that is, about the city of Norfolk, Virginia, and about our growing civic organization in which all members are graduates of the NPD Citizens Police Academy.
Norfolk is a city full of history, having been founded in 1682. Many of its original inhabitants were watermen or merchants who depended on the nearby Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean. Located on the east coast of Virginia, Norfolk boasts a very busy seaport serving both civilian and military installations, as well as Norfolk International Airport, public and private universities, and Eastern Virginia Medical School. Approximately 241,000 people call our community home; many military families who have been stationed here choose to make this their permanent residence in retirement. There are approximately 900 sworn and civilian employees of the Norfolk Police Department who protect our many diverse neighborhoods. About Us
