Welcome to the home of the Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association of Norfolk, Virginia.Come on in!
CPAAAN Investigation: Norfolk
There has been a crime scene investigation going on in Norfolk, and the Norfolk
Police Department and CPAAAN members have joined forces to solve it! Since
September, 2007 there has been an ongoing enactment of the standard law
enforcement procedures that take place during an investigation. At each of the
regularly scheduled meetings there was a step in the process of solving the crime
including homicide and drug investigations, forensics, witness interviews,
warrants, charging the alleged perpetrator, and concluding with the Mock Trial
at the Circuit Court.
The objective has been for CPAAAN members to become familiar with crime scene
processing, collection of evidence and legal proceedings. Norfolk Police
Department investigators have been available to assist the membership and answer
the many questions that we asked. Members who attended our meetings had a very
special opportunity to watch the investigative and legal processes from the day
of the crime through trial and verdict. It was a fantastic experience!
Visit our
News and Alerts page for a description
of each of the installments and for additional information.
Join us as we start our new year with the meeting on September 16 at 7:00 PM
at the Second Patrol Division operations and training center. The facility is
located at 2500 N. Military Highway near the intersection with I-64 overpass.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to work in law enforcement? The
thrills, the stress, the training, the shift work...weekend and holidays. Well,
we have. We also discovered that you could peek into that world by attending the
Norfolk Police Citizens Academy. When we discovered that there are enlightening
and informative classes going on at the Second Patrol Division, we wanted to
know more. These classses are free and fun to attend, and demonstrate the
training (including lots of role playing) that is provided to each young officer
to prepare him/her for duty. In 1999, several graduates of the Citizens Academy
met with Captain Sharon Chamberlin and Officer Judy Hash to form a Citizen
Police Academy Alumni Association. The group felt that the knowledge that had
been gained could in turn be used to make a positive contribution toward public
safety in our communities. Our Mission Statement below explains how we plan to
accomplish our goal.
